This 6-day Serengeti migration safari takes you to Ndutu, a prime location to witness the Great Migration during the calving season. Between December and March, thousands of wildebeest give birth in the nutrient-rich plains, attracting predators and offering incredible wildlife action. The journey also includes game drives in Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, two of Tanzania’s top safari destinations.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, a Leviva Travel and Tours guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. This is a day to rest and prepare for the safari ahead. If time allows, you may explore the town or relax at your lodge.

Day 2: Arusha to Ndutu (Ngorongoro Conservation Area)
After breakfast, drive towards Ndutu in the southern part of Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This region is the heart of the Great Migration during the calving season. The open plains are covered with thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, along with lurking predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive before heading to your lodge or tented camp for the night.

Day 3: Full Day in Ndutu – The Migration Calving Season
Spend the day exploring Ndutu, tracking the herds and observing the dramatic wildlife interactions. This is the peak of the calving season, with thousands of newborn wildebeest taking their first steps while predators wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. Game drives will take you across the plains, lakes, and woodland areas, providing plenty of photographic moments.

Day 4: Ndutu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, head north into the Serengeti, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. Along the way, spot more herds and predators roaming the vast plains. The afternoon game drive offers a chance to see lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and many other species. The Serengeti’s open landscape makes it ideal for spotting wildlife in action.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Start with an early morning game drive in Serengeti before heading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife-rich haven that is home to the Big Five, hippos, flamingos, and a variety of other animals. The crater floor offers fantastic game viewing before heading to your lodge on the crater rim for the night.

Day 6: Ngorongoro to Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha with a stop for lunch on the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you may be transferred directly to the airport or to your hotel for some rest before departure.
