Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Your safari starts with a morning drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions and large flocks of flamingos. The park’s diverse landscape includes forests, open grasslands, and the beautiful lake, making it home to elephants, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of bird species. After a full day of wildlife viewing, settle at a campsite near Manyara for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, head towards Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The vast plains of Serengeti are famous for their high concentration of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before heading to your campsite in the heart of the park for a night surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Spend the entire day exploring Serengeti National Park, where every corner offers a new wildlife encounter. Depending on the season, you might witness part of the Great Migration, with thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the plains. The park is also home to elephants, hyenas, jackals, and various bird species. After a day of adventure, return to the campsite for dinner and another night under the stars.
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Wake up early for a morning game drive in Serengeti before heading towards Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater’s enclosed ecosystem supports a high density of animals, including rhinos, lions, hippos, and large elephant bulls. Arrive in the evening and stay at a campsite near the crater rim, ready for an exciting final day of safari.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Start the day with a game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater, one of the best places to see the Big Five in a single day. The crater floor is a wildlife haven with diverse animals roaming freely in an area of about 260 square kilometers. After a few hours of exploration, begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon.
