3 Days Tanzania Family Safari – Tarangire & Lake Manyara

OVERVIEW

A short but exciting Tanzania family safari, perfect for families looking to enjoy nature and wildlife without long travel times. This trip includes Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds, and Lake Manyara National Park, home to tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife. It’s a great mix of adventure and relaxation, with comfortable lodges and family-friendly activities.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Your family safari starts in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s northern parks. After arrival, take some time to rest at your hotel or explore the town. If time allows, visit a local market or a coffee plantation to get a feel for Tanzanian culture. Dinner and overnight stay in Arusha.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Wildlife & Giant Baobabs

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, about two hours away. The park is famous for its massive elephant population and ancient baobab trees. Enjoy a game drive, spotting giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and, if lucky, big cats like lions and leopards. Kids will love watching elephants interact up close. Lunch will be at a picnic site with scenic views of the Tarangire River, where animals gather to drink. In the evening, head to your lodge near Lake Manyara for dinner and a relaxing night.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Birdlife & Tree-Climbing Lions

Start the day with breakfast at the lodge before heading to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is smaller than Tarangire but packed with wildlife, including tree-climbing lions, hippos, and large flocks of flamingos. A game drive takes you through lush forests, open plains, and the beautiful lake shores. After lunch, drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, marking the end of your Tanzania family safari.
